Dr. Usha Mathur-Wagh, MD

About Me

I am a doctor of the AHF Healthcare Centers: Midtown Manhattan. I’m an HIV/AIDS and infectious diseases physician with more than four decades of experience. In the early 1980s at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York, my colleagues and I were among the first to describe clinical cases of HIV/AIDS. Throughout my career, I’ve provided patient care and led research and clinical trials of antiviral and immunologic treatments. I also served for over a decade as Director of the Peter Krueger Clinic at Beth Israel, where I was Principal Investigator on a major NIH grant studying the natural history of HIV in women (the WIHS study). Most recently, I cared for patients at the Center for Special Studies at Weill Cornell Medicine as an attending physician and primary care provider.

I chose AHF for its long-standing commitment to comprehensive, high-quality HIV care. It’s an exciting time to practice, with innovative treatments and preventive options that continue to improve patients’ lives.
