About Me

I have chosen to practice HIV medicine because it's complex, interesting, and impactful.  My expertise not only includes HIV treatment, but also HIV prevention, Men's Health, LGBTQ+ care including hormone replacement therapy, infectious diseases, travel medicine and the use of long acting injectables for the treatment and prevention of HIV.  I believe there will be a cure for HIV in my lifetime, and if I can contribute to a cure by practicing HIV medicine, I couldn't imagine doing anything else!

During my training as an infectious diseases specialist, a highlight was when I worked in Malawi, Africa - a resource-limited country - caring for people living with HIV and other infectious diseases. Taking care of people who would travel for hours to days to see a doctor was a difficult but humbling experience, especially when sometimes I could only provide a prayer.

My USP (unique selling point): Midwest raised, globally educated. LGBTQ+. I focus on wellness.  Hablo Español.

I am an advanced SCUBA diver and have dived some of the best dive sites all over the world. I've seen a barracuda tornado at Barracuda Point, Sipadan Island, Borneo,  Malaysia! I've done global health work in rural Guatemala and Malawi, Africa; and lived and studied in Mexico, Australia, St. Maartan and London.  I have experience training in  8 different cities and 10 hospitals across the United States.  A non-medical skill that has been invaluable to the way I practice medicine is traveling. I have traveled to almost 70 countries and have lived and studied in 5 different countries.   I can speak English and Spanish and am conversant in French.
