About Me
I chose HIV medicine after my roommate from medical school died – alone and in shame - the year after we graduated because of how stigmatized he felt about getting AIDS. This was four years before the new ARVs were available. At that moment, I decided to dedicate my life to making sure others would not have to experience what he did. I started practicing HIV medicine at a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) in West Baltimore that had a Ryan White clinic that emphasized an interdisciplinary team approach to patient care. I continued practicing medicine in communities greatly impacted by social determinants of health and then joined AHF in the spring of 2016 where I have continued my journey as a clinician, researcher, and administrator.
Fun Fact: I enjoy tennis and body building. I also enjoy live theater in any form. During my tenure at AHF, I have been very interested in playing a more active role in advocacy.
