About Me
I am the Medical Director of the AHF Healthcare Centers: Woodward. I care deeply about HIV medicine because it is profoundly personal to me. My brother passed away from complications of HIV that could have been prevented, and his experience shaped my commitment to ensuring that others receive the high standard of care, dignity, and compassion that I wish he had received. I have been practicing HIV medicine since my infectious disease fellowship in 2017, providing comprehensive, evidence-based care to diverse patient populations.
I am bilingual in English and Spanish, which allows me to connect more effectively with patients and reduce barriers to care. I have a special interest in women’s health and sexually transmitted infections, and I am a strong advocate for integrating mental health support into HIV care. These values—prevention, access, and whole-person care—are core principles I found reflected in my work with AIDS Healthcare Foundation, whose mission and advocacy closely align with my own commitment to serving communities in need.
I consider myself a calm, level-headed, and hardworking person with a deep appreciation for the simple things in life. Growing up in the mid-1980s has shaped many of my interests, especially my love for music from that era. I also have a bit of a nerdy side and enjoy playing video games in my spare time, with a preference for classic favorites like Zelda, Pokémon, and Mario.
Originally from a rural area of Puerto Rico, I have always felt a strong connection to the beach and nature—something I continue to enjoy every time I visit home. I have a soft spot for animals, especially dogs, and hope one day to open or support a dog shelter. In my downtime, I enjoy watching movies, with favorites including Harry Potter, Marley & Me, and Star Wars, as well as reading fiction novels.
